Bogdan Zvoristeanu

    Born in Bucharest in April 27th 1970, the Romanian Bogdan Zvoristeanu started playing the violin at the age of 6 with his father Radu Zvoristeanu (concertmaster of the National Romanian Radio Orchestra and conductor), who taught him until the age of 23.

    In 1988 he graduated from the ¡°George Enescu¡± Music College in Bucharest and in 1993 from the Academy of Music of Bucharest, in the class of prof. Stefan Gheorghiu and prof. Victoria Basta. In the following 4 years, he completed his musical studies with Maestro Alberto Lysy at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland.

    After two years as concertmaster in the ¡°S¨¹dwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim¡± (Germany), Zvoristeanu got offered the opportunity to teach violin and chamber music at the International Menuhin Music Academy. The high artistic value of Bogdan Zvoristeanu was quickly recognised worldwide, being confirmed by numerous prizes in international competitions such as: ¡°Tibor Varga¡± in Sion, ¡°Leopold Mozart¡± in Augsburg, ¡°George Enescu¡± in Bucharest, the ¡°Geneva International Violin Competition¡± in Geneva, and ¡°Pierre Lantier¡± in Paris.

    His deep, refined sense of music and technical abilities are harmoniously combined, playing both solo and chamber music concerts. The warm sound of his violin has been widely enjoyed in famous concert halls across Europe, Argentina, Canada and Japan.

    As a teacher, Bogdan Zvoristeanu has given International Master Classes in Salzburg/Austria, in Temeswar, Brasov, and Bucharest/Romania, in Speyer/Germany, in Buenos Aires and Carillo/Argentina. He regularly leads courses at the ¡°Rencontre Musicale¡± organised by the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland.

    Zvoristeanu has been a jury member for international violin competitions such as the ¡°Renata Molinari International Violin Competition¡± and the ¡°Geneva International Violin Competition¡±, as well as for the ¡°Orchestre National de Montpelier¡± and the ¡°Orchestre de la Suisse Romande¡±. Moreover, he regularly recruits new young talent to take on scholarships at the International Menuhin Music Academy.

    Bogdan Zvoristeanu has collaborated with many great musicians such as Igor Oistrach, Ruggiero Ricci, Alberto Lysy, Jeremy Menuhin, Brigitte Meyer, Tibor Varga, Radu Aldulescu and Ettore Causa

    As a soloist he has performed with conductors such as Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Andrey Boreyko, Pinchas Steinberg, Marek Janowski, Jin Wang, Fabio Luisi and Gilbert Varga

    Since 2002 Bogdan Zvoristeanu has held the post of Concertmaster in the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva, Switzerland. Here he has worked with great conductors such as Rafael Fr¨¹hbeck de Burgos, Armin Jordan, Antonio Pappano, Charles Dutoit, Vladimir Aschkenazy, Eliahu Inbal, Dmitrij Kitajenko, amongst several others.

    Bogdan Zvoristeanu plays a violin made by G.B. Guadagnini in 1753.
