Kingman Lo

One of the region's most distinguished
and versatile artistic talents, Kingman Lo graduated
from the University of Hong Kong. While pursuing
further studies on scholarship in Italy, he undertook
professional training at the Teatro dell'Opera
of Rome. After returning to Hong Kong, Professor
Lo embarked on a successful career encompassing
arts development, academic administration, and
creative work in music and theatre. He has written,
designed and directed extensively for the stage
including some fifty productions of western and
contemporary Chinese opera.
He was instrumental
in the establishment of the professional Philharmonic
and Sinfonietta orchestras, the Arts Centre
and the Cultural Centre of his native city.
He was a founding member of the Hong Kong Arts
Development Council and served as Director of
the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts from
1993 to 2004. In addition to his commitment
with the Canton International Summer Music Academy,
Professor Lo is also artistic adviser to several
major international cultural development projects
and educational institutions. He has received
numerous honorary awards and titles from universities,
conservatories and governments in the international
community.
