The Canton International Summer Music Academy

Inaugurated in 2005, the Canton International Summer Music Academy is the first professional summer music academy to be established in China. Approved by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, and presented by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the Academy will be held annually in Butterfly Valley, Nanguo Peach Garden, Nanhai District in the city of Foshan, Guangdong province.

The Academy aims to provide talented young professional musicians, recent conservatory graduates and senior students from within China and the wider Asian region with a unique opportunity to make music with some of the most distinguished artists in the world.

At the Academy, students can strengthen their musical skills under the tutelage of established international experts in an environment that provides a high level of artistic training and performance experience.

Students at the Academy will play in one of the two orchestras led by celebrated conductors and with renowned soloists, take part in chamber music and master classes, and receive some individual tuition.

Orchestral and chamber music concerts by the students of the Academy will take place every week on campus and at the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou. At the end of the academic session, an outdoor gala closing event will be held in Butterfly Valley providing audiences with the opportunity to witness the results culminating from the Academy.
