Young Amateurs
Applicants aged between 12 and
16, who enjoy playing an instrument and who have been able to
maintain an acceptable level of competence in their playing are
welcomed to participate in this programme.
Young Amateurs students will
not participate in the two main Academy Orchestras, but will have
opportunities of attending studio classes, rehearsals and on-campus
performances. Depending on their numbers, levels of skill and
instrumental distribution, they may be assigned to a Junior Orchestra,
string orchestra, wind band, brass band, or appropriate chamber
ensembles or groups. Some individual tuition will be offered to
Young Amateurs students selected on the basis of talent and ability.
There will be sufficient music, academic, recreational and general
interest activities to gainfully occupy the Young Amateurs students
for the full Academy session.
