Brian Manker
Brian Manker is currently Solo
Cellist of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. A frequent soloist
with the OSM, Mr. Manker is a performer of great diversity, and
has been heard worldwide as soloist and chamber musician as a
member of the OSM, the Harrington Quartet, and the Atlanta Chamber
Players. In addition to numerous radio and television broadcasts
on the CBC, WFMT Chicago and WQXR New York, Brian Manker can be
heard on recordings of the OSM, and in various chamber music recordings.
Currently on the faculty of McGill University, Mr. Manker was
formerly on the faculty of West Texas State and Emory Universities.
A participant in numerous chamber music festivals including Norfolk,
Blossom, Chamber Music East, Roundtop, Swannanoa, Ottawa, Orford,
Domaine Forget and the International Musical Arts Institute. In
addition, he has won prizes in the Hudson Valley Philharmonic
competition, and received a special commendation from Sir Yehudi
Menuhin at the Portsmouth International String Quartet Competition.
