Jacques Beaudoin
Jacques Beaudoin began his musical
studies at the school of Vincent d’Indy under the direction of
Jacques Gagnon. He then went on to study with Tom Martin. He was
admitted to the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montreal
where he stayed for 3 years. He then studied with Michael Leiter
and Dennis James. A few years later, he was hired by the Montreal
Symphony Orchestra of which he has been and still a permanent
member for more than 27 years.
Mr. Beaudoin was part of the
group L’Infonie with Walter Boudreau and Raoul Duguay. Bass player
for Monique Leyrac, André Gagnon, the Petits violons and numerous
others, he participated to a number of artists’s recordings as
well as recordings for commercials and soundtracks. He was a bass
player for the Grands Ballets Canadiens orchestra, a number of
years as soloist, and for 25 years, he played with the Société
de musique contemporaine under the direction of Serge Garant.
He has taught doublebass at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec
in Montreal (3 years) and at the Université de Montréal (since
1978). Mr. Beaudoin has participated to a number of music chamber
concerts with, amongst others, the McGill Chamber Orchestra, Les
Vents de Montréal and Ensemble Pantaèdre with whom he recorded
the Prokofiev quartet.
